In line with British Touring Car Championship series organisers TOCA, the F4 British Championship certified by FIA – powered by Ford EcoBoost is pleased to unveil its revised 2020 calendar. The schedule, which remains provisional subject to government guidelines, approvals and directives amidst the global COVID-19 pandemic, consists of 27 races, held across nine rounds. All race weekends will continue to be broadcast live by ITV Sport.
An intensive August programme sees Donington Park and Brands Hatch host the opening two events respectively, with a week hiatus before heading north to Oulton Park and Knockhill for rounds three and four. The action picks back up in Hampshire in mid-September at the high-speed Thruxton circuit, before heading straight up to Silverstone – the ‘Home of British Motorsport’ – for a triple-header on the National circuit. October features another double-header of events, first at Croft in Yorkshire before the circus journeys to Snetterton in Norfolk. Brands Hatch’s iconic Grand Prix circuit will continue to host the season finale, with a date set for mid-November. The scheduled visit to Silverstone’s International circuit could unfortunately not be re-arranged.
“First and foremost, everyone associated with the F4 British Championship sends our thoughts out to everyone affected by the COVID-19 pandemic, as well as those working tirelessly worldwide in the fight against this terrible disease,” commented Series Promoter, Sam Roach.
“As a championship, we’re very pleased to be able to unveil our revised, provisional 2020 calendar. It’s certainly an intensive schedule, not least four events in the opening five weeks and three back-to-back events, but I’m sure our drivers and teams are very enthusiastic to resume racing as soon as it is safe to do so, and I’m sure they’ll all rise to the challenge. I’d like to put on record my thanks to TOCA, and Alan Gow in particular, along with ITV for the exceptionally hard work they’ve put in to bring this revised calendar together. I think it represents the absolute best-case scenario we could have hoped for, and the UK’s notoriously challenging circuits will continue to provide our rising stars with both the perfect learning curve, and the platform to excel. Whilst it’s a shame we won’t be able to make our much-anticipated first trip to Silverstone International, I’m sure we’ll have the opportunity again at some point in the near future. In the meantime, we’re looking forward to entertaining drivers and spectators alike with our first step into eSports, the British F4 iRacing Trophy, which begins this evening (27 April) and runs through until early June.”
