The 2020 Formula Regional European Championship certified by FIA is about to get underway with its first weekend event scheduled for August at the Misano track in Italy. The Finnish KIC Motorsport team, which is run by ex-GT-driver Petri Lappalainen, enters its second season with three highly talented and determined drivers: Flying Finns Patrik Pasma, aged 20, and Konsta Lappalainen, aged 18, and with an excellent challenger in the shape of the team’s new driver, Estonian Jüri Vips, aged 19, and currently a Red Bull junior program driver.

The teams and drivers are currently preparing themselves in tests in Italy for the 2020 season, which now consists of eight racing weekends and 24 races, offering what looks likely to be a thrilling competition for the title and some highly valuable trophies.

“The Formula Regional European Championship certified by FIA series has become an important step for young drivers towards their dreams of becoming Formula 1 drivers. The winner of the series gets 25 points towards an FIA super licence and furthermore they also get to perform in front of the FIA Formula 3 Ferrari Driver Academy observers. KIC Motorsport wants to offer this possibility to its drivers,” team manager Petri Lappalainen said.

“The initial test days have given us confirmation that we have a strong line-up for the series as our drivers Jüri Vips, Patrik Pasma and Konsta Lappalainen have shown strong pace in the tests. The results have told us that we’ll have a thrilling season in front of us and therefore we cannot wait for it to get underway in the next four weeks,” Lappalainen continued.
