Today’s free practice sessions took place on a truly torrid day, with temperatures of 31°C, and the Tarmac hitting a high of 52°C in 57% humidity. In these conditions two Italians stood out, Francesco Pizzi (1.35:028), for Van Amersfoort Racing, and Gabriele Minì (1.35:261) driving for Prema Powerteam, followed in third place by the Swede, Dino Beganovic, with a time of 1.35:279. Despite just running a single driver, therefore, Van Amersfoort seem set to build on their excellent results in 2019, when they won the drivers’ title with Dennis Hauger and also took the team title.
Some of the fastest times were set by drivers who started their careers in the ACI Sport Federal School, which among other things is present at all the Italian F4 events providing tutoring in the fundamentals of competitive driving for young talents from karting. Pizzi, Minì, Beganovic and Rosso were all in the top 5 positions and all also participated in the evaluation sesssions carried out by the ACI Sport Federal School in collaboration with the Ferrari Driver Academy, as well as being part of the Supercorso Federale. The same path was followed by Leonardo Fornaroli, a rookie, who in also took part in the Kart Summer Camp run by the ACI Sport Federal School.
