An excellent start with no problems saw the Monegasque put in a series of fastest laps to claim his first victory ahead of Petecof and Rasmussen. Race 2 was also very hard fought, though with no retirements, exits and with all the drivers making it to the finish line. Arthur Leclerc (Prema Powerteam and Ferrari Driver Academy driver) notched up his first victory in the Formula Regional European Championship certified by FIA and was never really under threat from teammate Gianluca Petecof or third placed man and Race 1 winner Oliver Rasmussen.
Behind the podium positions were Pasma, Lappalainen, and Chadwick, who didn’t get a good result despite fighting tooth and nail to resist the attacks of Pasma, Chover and Lappalainen, before having to give way.
Arthur Leclerc: “I am very happy. Certainly, compared to race 1 I changed my approach at the start, and I have to have a greater vision of the whole situation and not just be focused on me, I have to work on it.”
Gianluca Petecof: “I was never fast enough to catch Arthur and when I set my fastest laps it was late in the race, and probably my teammate was not pushing hard thanks to the gap he’d created. We must work to find more speed!”
Race 3 will start at 10:50 local time on Sunday with live coverage on motorsport.tv, MS Motor TV (Sky channel 218) and live streamed on the acisport.it website and on the Facebook page of the championship.
