The Finn, driving for KIC Motorsport, was fastest in the first free practice session, stopping the clock with a best time  of 1:26.325. Behind him was Frenchman Pierre-Louis Chovet, (Van Amersfoort Racing) with a 1:26.501, and in third was Gianluca Petecof, the Brazilian who leads the championship in his Prema Powerteam Dallara, who turned in a time of 1:26.534. His teammate, Arthur Leclerc, was just 0.363 off Pasma, which gives you an idea of just how close the times were.
