The Muecke Motorsport driver, Joshua Duerksen, held onto the lead from pole and also set the fastest lap making victory inevitable. He finished ahead of Minì, who now leads the championship, followed by Red Bull Junior Team driver, Jonny Edgar.

The final classification read Duerksen, Minì, Edgar, Crawford, Beaman and Pizzi, at the end of race 1, on a circuit that had finally heated up after a cold morning. The race was also marked by two restarts that Duerksen controlled perfectly.

Gabriele Minì (Prema Powerteam and ACI Team Italia) was a little slow away from 2nd on the grid but was able to keep Jak Crawford (Var and Red Bull Junior Team) at bay, until the latter was caught and overtaken by teammate Jonny Edgar.

“Everything was perfect, and I thank the team for their fabulous work. Tomorrow race 2 will be more difficult because electrical problems slowed me down in QP2 so I’m starting from behind,” commented Duerksen.

“Something has changed, perhaps it’s the heat in the track, and I couldn’t fight for first. Anyway, the points for the championship are excellent,” said Gabriele Minì at the end of the race.

Race 2 will start tomorrow at 10.30 local time.
