2020 Formula Regional European Championship – Chovet Strong, Hauger Shines on Return

on

Van Amersfoort Racing seems to be the team to beat on the Barcelona circuit, for anyone who thought that after five rounds of the Formula Regional the Dutch team had not really shown its full potential.

Pierre-Louis Chovet thus set the best time of the first qualifying session, ahead of his teammate Dennis Hauger, the 2019 star of the Italian F4 Championship powered by Abarth, with Van Amersfoort Racing. The latter was on top in the second qualifying session, ahead of Chovet by a tenth of a second.

So the two VAR drivers were very fast, while the Prema Powerteam held its own, with Oliver Rasmussen, who has generally slightly less effective than Gianluca Petecof and Arthur Leclerc, proving fast in Barcelona, even if the gap from the top in the first session was not small, standing at 0.451 seconds. Afterwards, close to one another were Patrik Pasma (KIC Motorsport), after an exceptional win at Monza, and Arthur Leclerc, while Championship leader Gianluca Petecof was over half a second adrift in the first session, in just tenth place. In the second session he clawed his way up to fifth, but he was still behind Hauger, Chovet, Rasmussen and Leclerc.

Dennis Hauger also set the best second time overall to take pole for race 3.

Race 1 will start tomorrow at 11.10 local time and race 2 at 17.05. Live streaming on the championship’s Facebook page, on MS Motor TV channel and on motorsport.tv.
