2020 Italian F4 Championship Powered by Abarth – Minì In The Wet, Bortoleto In The Dry

on

The first qualifying session on the Vallelunga racetrack took place under overcast skies and in strong winds that helped dry the asphalt from the rain that fell during the night. In the most difficult conditions, Gabriele Minì was not resting on his championship laurels, and set the best time to take pole for race 1 with a rapid 1:44.548, followed by Oliver Bearman (1:44.802), Kirill Smal (1:45.212), Francesco Pizzi (1:45.384) and Andrea Rosso (1:45.452).

The second session got under way on a wet track and on wet weather tyres, with Jonny Edgar leading the pack until about 6 minutes from the end, when several drivers switched to slick tyres and had clearly made the best choice. Among them was Gabriel Bortoleto who took pole at the end of the second session with a 1:39.187, followed by the always fast 2020 champion Minì (1:40.009), Filip Ugran (1:40.565) and Jonny Edgar, who perhaps paid the price for not having wanted to change his tyres (1;40.791). Only twentieth was Pizzi, second in the championship and fighting for this position against Beganovic (11th and 7th), Crawford (15th in both sessions), Rosso (5th and 25th) and Bortoleto (13th and 1st).
