Leitch fastest in first Toyota Racing Series practice

Invercargill’s Brendon Leitch has set the fastest time in the first official practice session for the third round of the Toyota Racing Series at Hampton Downs this weekend. Leitch, who currently lies fourth in the series after the two South Island rounds was a quarter of a second faster than championship leader Lando Norris from England.

The top ten drivers were covered by less than seven tenths of a second on the undulating North Waikato track. Leitch was clocked at 60.017 seconds and was the only driver to go under the lap record. Norris was timed at 60.268, followed by Austrian Ferdinand Habsburg on 60.365.

James Munro from Christchurch was sixth fastest on 60.545 and 17 year old Taylor Cockerton recorded 60.700 to be eleventh fastest of the 19 drivers.
