Piquet and Norris Share the Honours

Pedro Piquet (Brazil) and Lando Norris (England) each won pole position for TRS events at Hampton Downs over the weekend.

Norris was fastest in the first session to get the prime qualifying place for this afternoon’s 15 lap race. Jehan Daruvala (India) will share the front row with him, while Guanyu Zhou (China) and Piquet will start from row two. Christchurch’s James Munro was fifth fastest.

In the second qualifying session for tomorrow afternoon’s feature race for the NZ Motor Cup which dates back to 1921 and used to be awarded to the winner of the New Zealand Grand Prix, four drivers went under the 60 second barrier. Piquet claimed pole in the last minute of the session from Norris with Daruvala third and Munro fourth fastest.
