2016 SMP F4 NEZ Championship – New Names Added to the Entry List
The organisers of the 2016 SMP F4 NEZ Championship have made a number of announcements today as to the drivers who will be in action over the course of the year. With last year’s champion Niko Kari moving up the ladder and joining the Red Bull Junior team the way is now open for the second champion to make their mark.
Two of last year’s drivers, Ivan Matveev and Nikita Sitnikov, who both got on the podium in 2015 are returning to fight for the title and the financial support that will propel the champion into the FIA F3 championship inn 2017.
Meanwhile a gaggle of fresh-faced youngsters are also stepping up to the mark. They include Kush Maini, 15 year’s old, from India. He will also compete in the Spanish F4 series thus widening his experience in his first year of car racing. In addition there are Russians by the handful, all making the leap from karting to single seaters. They include Nikita Volegov, Artem Petrov, Gleb Zotov and Roman Lebedev. Meanwhile, Vladimiros Tziortzis arrives fresh from Formula Russia.
Adding this new half dozen to the previously confirmed drivers, Aleksander Vartanyan, Juho Valtanen and Tuomas Tujula, there are now eleven drivers already committed to the series for 2016.
This year the calendar includes a new venue in Sweden to add to the Russian, Estonian and Finnish circuits used in 2015. It promises to be an interesting year for F4.
