Daruvala and Norris Share Manfeild Qualifying Honours

Jehan Daruvala (India) and Lando Norris (England) have each won pole position for races at the final round of the Toyota Racing Series at Manfeild. Daruvala, who lies fourth in the series will start this afternoon’s Dan Higgins Memorial Trophy race from pole position after a 1:02.492 lap, with Norris alongside him having recorded 1:02.522. Pedro Piquet (Brazil) and top local James Munro from Christchurch will share the second row of the grid.

In the second 15 minute qualifying session, Norris upped the ante and stopped the electronic timing at 1:02.145. Piquet and Daruvala were both timed at 1:02.162, but Piquet will be second on the grid as he set the time first, while Daruvala will be joined on the second row at the start by Artem Markelov from Russia.

James Munro was fifth fastest to be the first Kiwi again.

The grid positions for tomorrow morning’s preliminary race will be a reverse grid from the result of this afternoon’s race.
