Carlin sign Andres for Euroformula Open

American based teenager Keyvan Andres will join Carlin for the 2016 EuroFormula Open.  The 15 year-old racer, who will turn 16 next month, will make the step up to the F3 based series after starting his car racing career in the United States.

Andres is the third driver to be announced in Carlin’s 2016 EuroFormula Open line-up and will join team mates Ameya Vaidyanathan and Colton Herta for the first official test of the season which will get underway today in Jerez.

Despite his young age, Andres is no stranger to single seater racing.  The German born driver won the 2013/14 Skip Barber Winter Series and went on to compete in the USF2000 Series in 2014 and 2015 before making the move to Europe in 2016 to further his career.

An excited Andres commented, “Looking at the options available to me, EuroFormula Open clearly offered a great package.  There are a lot of testing opportunities, and the calendar is impressive.  My first experience in the F3 car was awesome and although it’s quite a big step up and a steep learning curve, I know it’s a challenge I’m ready for.  In Carlin I’m joining one of the best F3 teams in the world so I’m excited to see what we can achieve together.”

Speaking about his newest signing, Trevor Carlin said, “Keyvan is making quite a step up in joining EuroFormula Open, but from the small amount of testing we’ve done with him so far, he’s applied himself extremely well and has the talent and work ethic to do well this season.  We’re seeing more and more how dedicated the youngest drivers are and EuroFormula Open presents an excellent opportunity to learn the basics of F3 before joining FIA Formula 3.  I’m delighted that Keyvan chose Carlin as the team with which to take this next step in his career.”
