Navarra Provides Second Stop in the SMP F4 Winter Testing Programme
The second test of the season was completed today at the Navarra circuit with twelve drivers on track and the first appearance of the season for Marta Garcia at the wheel of the number 7 car. The Spanish female driver is aiming for a year in F4 in 2016 and came to the F4 Spain test to try her hand with the Tatuus-Abarth car.
Garcia was impressive for her first time in the championship car, finishing 5th on the new tyre run and 6th in the qualifying simulation, in front of some very experienced drivers. “It’s been a very productive weekend for me, I really liked the team’s organization and how they work! I’d like to thank my mechanic and Matt Parry for their help all over the weekend!” she commented.
Alexander Vartanyan was in a league of his own for the two day test, the Russian driver regularly topping the times and finished 1st in the simulation race. The fifteen year old proved once more that he is more than ready to aim for victory in both the SMP F4 championship and F4 Spain championship certified by FIA. He was however closely followed by a very strong Kush Maini who qualified 2nd and finished the simulated race in the same position, demonstrating that he is a quick learner.
The other Spanish driver Xavier Lloveras ended second on his new tyre run and was very satisfied with his weekend, as were all the Finns who kept on learning ahead of the new season.
Verschoor and Opmeer had tough times in the qualifying session but managed to fight their way back up to 4th and 5th respectively in the “race”.
All in all it was another very good test for all the future F4 drivers, and their next stop is at Alcarras on 28th/29th February.
