Pulcini tops a tight final test before the season start

Italy´s driver set the fastest time in Euroformula Open´s Winter Series at the Circuit de Barcelona-Catalunya. The top-ten drivers were separated by less than a second. A promising season lies ahead

The Euroformula Open´s Winter Series came to an end at the Circuit de Barcelona-Catalunya with a two-day testing session. They were eight closely-fought testing sessions and drivers had a little bit of everything as, besides dry sessions, also rain came and went, which was perfect for teams and their drivers to test in mixed weather conditions.

Leonardo Pulcini (Campos Racing) finished the two-day test on top of the timesheets by recording a best lap of 1:38.751 on the opening day. Despite Pulcini battled hard to try to improve his previous lap time today, Campos Racing driver couldn´t beat it. On the whole, Campos Racing delivered a particularly strong performance in Barcelona. Albeit an impressive Colton Herta (Carlin) moved up to second today, combined best times from the eight sessions see debutant Nirei Fukuzumi, Mexico´s Diego Menchaca and Ecuador´s Julio Moreno securing the top-four thanks to times set yesterday.

Behind Campos Racing drivers and Herta, which was the top-5, Igor Walilko (RP Motorsport) and Ferdinand Habsburg (Drivex) finished ex aequo as they posted identical lap times (1:39.588). Chinese racer Kang Ling (DAV Racing) took 8th spot ahead of Damiano Fioravanti (RP Motorsport). Another driver making his debut, Li Ye Hong (BVM Racing) also made it into the top-ten.

The Euroformula Open curtain raiser will take place at Estoril on 23-24 April.
