Carlin on the pace in final MSA Formula test
Carlin MSA Formula drivers topped the timing sheets in four of today’s six practice sessions at the championship’s media day at the Rockingham circuit. Max Fewtrell was quickest in two of this morning’s sessions, which was enough to put him P2 over the entire day’s running. Team mates Petru Florescu and Devlin DeFrancesco also set fastest times throughout the day, on the final day of pre-season testing before next month’s season opener at Brands Hatch.
All four of Carlin’s MSA Formula driver showed promising pace around Rockingham Motor Speedway today, on the final day of what has been a lengthy period of pre-season testing.
Max Fewtrell was on the pace from the outset, setting the fastest time in the first half hour session of the day and again in session three. After four action packed morning sessions the Carlin quartet all finished the morning in the top five, with only Fortec’s Ross Martin able to break up a top four lock out.
With two further sessions this afternoon, Florescu topped the fifth session, while rookie DeFrancesco topped the final session of the day. Combined times from all six sessions saw Fewtrell with the second fastest time of the day, Florescu third, DeFrancesco fourth and James Pull sixth.
Trevor Carlin commented, “The team have done a fantastic job in pre-season testing, but obviously what really matters is the pace when the racing action gets underway. Testing is incredibly important for drivers of this age and we’ve already seen so much progress from our four MSA Formula drivers over the last couple of months. The championship offers a great learning environment and I can’t wait to see how the team continues to improve once the racing starts.”
The MSA Formula drivers will next officially meet for the first race of the season at Brands Hatch from 2 – 3 April.
