Norris leads the way in final day of BRDC F3 practice
Carlin’s Lando Norris set the fastest time at Snetterton today, during the final day of BRDC F3 testing ahead of tomorrow’s season opener. The MSA Formula Champion was quick throughout Saturday’s four practice sessions, as was Ricky Collard who topped the final session and was third fastest overall. Ameya Vaidyanathan put in consistent performances, finishing 11th overall in the 21 car field.
Taking part in the final day of practice in the newly branded BRDC Formula 3 Championship, Lando Norris made up for any lost time in his season of dual programmes, getting the most out of his Carlin run BRDC car.
The 16-year-old racer was on the pace from the outset, setting the fastest time in this morning’s first half hour session, with team mate Collard not far behind in third and Vaidyanathan also in the top ten in ninth.
A small spin for Collard brought session two to a halt a few minutes early, with Norris Collard and Vaidyanathan third, seventh and 12th respectively. Norris and Collard were back on the pace in session three, once again first and third quickest on the timing screens while Vaidyanathan was again inside the top ten in eighth.
Reminiscent of their MSA Formula battles, vice champion Collard gave Norris some competition in the final session of the day, setting the quickest time just ahead of his team mate while Vaidyanathan was 11th.
The first qualifying session of the season will get underway tomorrow at 11.20 followed by race one at 15.40.
