Dutchman Kroes Enters the Fight for the SMP F4 NEZ Championship
Danny Kroes becomes the third Dutch driver confirmed for the 2016 SMP F4 NEZ Championship, alongside his fellow countrymen Richard Verschoor and Jarno Opmeer. The three musketeers from the Netherlands will join a field of twenty drivers for the first round of the Championship which is part of the programme for the Formula One Russian Grand Prix on 29th April-1st May.
The young Dutch driver was relatively late getting the motorsport bug as he only started racing at the age of 12, but he showed talent from the start, winning the BNL karting series in 2015 as the climax of his karting career.
Kroes commented: “I am very pleased to announce that I will join the SMP F4 championship for 2016. After only 4 years of karting this is a major step but at 16 I feel it is the right choice for me now. I am very excited about the first race in Sochi Autodrom together with the Formula One Russian Grand Prix, that will hopefully turn out great after only five testing days with the Tatuus/Abarth F4 car. I am really looking forward to this season!”
The young Dutchman from the KNAF Academy will be at the steering wheel of car No. 38 this season and will be fighting for the Rookie title.
