Official Test Day Completed in Zandvoort

2016 SMP F4 Championship certified by FIA continued today as the 2016 F4 NEZ Drivers finished the Official testday ahead of the second round of the season. Fastest today was Dutch Jarno Opmeer in 1:39:689 followed by Dutch Richard Verschoor 1:39:771 and Finn Juho Valtanen 1:40:500.

Drivers did the trackwalk this morning. The sun was coming out and the youngsters got their last tips from their coaches: Mikko Pakari, Aaro Vainio, Oskari Kurki-Suonio and Jack Clarke. The day has been ideal for racing and everyone is hoping that tomorrow’s weather is going to treat the championship like it has today.

Only a few drivers have driven this circuit before, including Dutch drivers Danny Kroes, Jarno Opmeer and Richard Verschoor. Finn Juho Valtanen, Russian Alexander Vartanyan and Nikita Volegov also have an earlier experience of Circuit Park Zandvoort.

“I do this to win. It’s just feels good. I started when I was 4. My father and grandfather were drivers so that’s also a reason why I do this. Qualifying is going to be the hardest part of the weekend, but my goal is to win. Tomorrow will be my fifth time driving on this circuit. There’s one tricky part of this track where you have a slight chance to crash as the wall is so close,” commented Jarno Opmeer.

“I feel like I’m on a good flow and the Tatuus F4 car is going fast. In comparison to Dutch drivers, driving has been pretty balanced. Zandvoort circuit feels good even though there are few tough parts on this circuit where the wall is pretty close,” said Juho Valtanen.

“Goal for the weekend is to be in Top 10. This is my second time on this track on an F4 car. I also like to drive here in Zandvoort, since I know the circuit. What comes to improving for tomorrow, sometimes, I have a wrong feeling with the car. Sometimes I think that the car is sliding, but no, it is just that I have to keep the throttle down,” reported Danny Kroes.

Now the drivers are fully focused on the weekend and ready to start the competition.
