Collard and Norris ready for Silverstone assault

Carlin’s Ricky Collard and Lando Norris are ready and waiting for the next instalment of the 2016 BRDC British Formula Three championship as it kicks off at Silverstone this weekend. Currently leading the championship Collard, who took a total of two wins last time out at Oulton Park, will be looking to continue his strong form at the world-renowned circuit. 2016 race winner Norris makes a welcome return to the team having missed the previous round due to other racing commitments. Ameya Vaidyanathan however will unfortunately be absent from the weekend as Carlin fight on with a two car team.

Last time out at Oulton Park Collard clinched two brilliant race victories on his way to extending his advantage in the championship to a total of 37 points. The British racer will be out around the 3.6 mile circuit and looks to continue his fantastic momentum over the course of the three races on offer.

Back with Carlin, having missed the previous round is 2016 BRDC British F3 race winner Norris. Tackling a dual campaign this season, Norris has already won in the British championship this season and looks to jump back in to the Carlin car in earnest as testing takes place on Friday before qualifying and three races during the weekend of action.

Following checks earlier in the week, and advice from his doctor, it has been recommended that Vaidyanathan remains out of the BRDC British Formula Three car for this weekend’s race at Silverstone. Vaidyanathan was the victim of contact which caused a dramatic airborne crash at the previous round in Oulton Park resulting in a strain to his neck muscles. While obviously wanting to race and get back in to the car the Indian driver, who scored his first podium of the 2016 season at Rockingham, has been advised to sit the event out.

Vaidyanathan has previously enjoyed strong testing around the Northamptonshire circuit and is understandably disappointed not to be taking part in this weekend’s race at Silverstone. However the F3 racer is hoping to be back in the Carlin car for testing soon and looks forward to the second half of the season.
