Hillspeed with Cliff Dempsey Racing Completes Capacity Three Car British F3 Line-Up with German Rookie Worm
German single-seater rookie Nick Worm is to make his UK racing debut in the BRDC British Formula 3 Championship this year after this morning, Tuesday, 28th March, being confirmed as the third driver signing for top team Hillspeed with Cliff Dempsey Racing. Completing the Hathersage squad’s three car line-up for the 2017 season ahead of the start of today’s officially timed pre-season ‘Media Day’ test at Snetterton 300 Circuit in Norfolk, the 16-year-old from Solingen in Germany leaps into F3 with just a few seasons of karting under his belt.

“We’re absolutely delighted to have signed Nick as our third driver for the new BRDC British F3 season, it’s fantastic news for the whole Hillspeed with Cliff Dempsey Racing team to be going into the championship with a capacity entry,” said team principal Richard Ollerenshaw. “This is very much a learning year for Nick, he’s fully aware of the challenge which lies ahead and this marks the beginning of an extremely steep learning curve. He’s a young driver with a lot of potential, as we’ve seen in winter testing, but his first season is all about learning the circuits and the car, there are no expectations other than to gain key experience in his rookie year in single-seaters.”
Mentored by Porsche Junior coach Sascha Maassen, Worm has just four years of kart racing experience under his belt – starting out on his motor racing path in 2012 – and will arrive in BRDC British F3 as a true novice. He did make his car racing debut last October, in the one-make Audi Sport TT Cup, and had the option of racing in the German saloon car series this year. Additionally, he also had opportunity to make the step into the Blancpain Endurance Cup. Instead, Worm has chosen to make the move into single-seater competition in the highly regarded BRDC British Formula 3 Championship where he is fully aware of the high level of competition which awaits him.
During his first season in single-seaters, Worm will also be trying to promote the ‘Keep Fighting’ foundation which was established by the family of seven-time FIA Formula One World Champion Michael Schumacher following his life-changing skiing accident in 2013. “I am so happy to be racing in BRDC British Formula 3 this year”, said the German teenager, “It’s a huge step in my career, we know that, but I have a great team around me and I know the guys at Hillspeed with Cliff Dempsey Racing will give me all the support I need. Through my racing this year, I also want to help try and promote the amazing ‘Keep Fighting’ initiative. Michael Schumacher has always been my idol and I want to take the opportunity to wish him well with his recovery – Keep Fighting Michael!”
Following today’s Media Day outing, the 24-race 2017 BRDC British Formula 3 Championship will begin over Easter weekend, 15th/16th/17th April, at Oulton Park International Circuit in Cheshire.
