Brands Hatch to set the scene for Championship opener

Brands Hatch will once again be the place to be this weekend as Carlin’s four car squad ready themselves for the start of the 2017 F4 British Championship Certified by FIA – powered by Ford. Following a busy and productive pre-season test programme Jamie Caroline, Logan Sargeant, Patrik Pasma and Lucas Alecco Roy have all enjoyed many hours in the car and simulator as they now look ahead to the first three races of the year.  As reigning champions, Carlin once again field a young and exciting line up to fight for Championship honours over the course of the 30 race season. Taking in nine different circuits this season, with three races at each event, the British F4 drivers will gain invaluable experience.  This weekend sees the first of two visits to Kent’s Brands Hatch circuit, this weekend using the short Indy Circuit configuration.   At only 1.198 miles long the racing is generally fast paced and throws up exciting races around the six corner configuration. The Championship will also be back later in the season to tackle the longer GP circuit for the season finale.

Having raced in the 2016 championship with race winning success Caroline aims to continue his race winning tally this weekend. The British racer said of the upcoming weekend, “I’m looking forward to my first weekend with my new team. I’ve had previous success at Brands Hatch so I’m hoping to have even more this time around – I really can’t wait to get going this weekend.”

Joining the team for his first race Roy added, “It is now just over 3 months since I got off the horse and into a Formula 4 car, so going to Brands Hatch this weekend is very exciting. Thanks to the great team supporting me I have already learnt a lot in a short time. But my only target for my first ever race is just to enjoy it!”

Flying Finn Pasma, who has raced in various championships before entering the hotly contested F4 British Championship said, “I am very excited and happy to compete in the British F4 Championship this season. The team have been working really hard and we have had good tests ahead of the racing. I really look forward to the season opener in Brands Hatch.”

Having enjoyed an enviable career in karting, which saw him clinch multiple titles before finishing as Vice Champion in the Formula 4 UAE Championship, Logan Sargeant added, “I can’t wait to get out there and get racing. We’ve done a lot of testing so we’re feeling good as we head in to the first race of the season. I’m sure it’s going to be very competitive out there but I just want to get back behind the wheel and start the season in style.”

The 1.6 Litre Ford EcoBoost cars will be on track from Friday for various practice sessions before qualifying on Saturday morning followed by three races over the course of the weekend.
