Formula Renault NEC presents an amended calendar for 2017

This revised calendar, with no clashes of dates with the Formula Renault Eurocup, now fits completely within Renault Sport Racing’s single-seater strategy, and will give drivers from both championships more racing opportunities. The 2017 series will now run 5 events, with the season starting in Monza on June 23rd-25th. The NEC teams will also join forces with the Eurocup in Spa-Francorchamps on September 22nd-24th. The combined grid, with more than 40 cars, will give the NEC drivers a chance to measure their talents with their Eurocup counterparts.

Jurgen Evers – NEC Series Manager: “These changes to our program were not taken lightly, but both we and Renault Sport Racing believe that this amended program is highly attractive for teams and young drivers. Our aim this year has always been to re-establish the NEC as being the ideal stepping stone towards the Eurocup where the competition will once again be very fierce”

Tarik Ait Said – Sporting Manager Customer Racing, Renault Sport Racing: “The changes made on the Eurocup for the 2017 season have proven to be very effective for the championship, and we believe that this will also have a positive effect on the NEC championship. With the Eurocup, the support from the Renault Sport Academy and the Renault Sport Formula 1 Team, the revi-sed NEC now takes its place in our single-seater strategy and offers the dri-vers the first step in their single-seater racing career.”
