Harrison Scott (RP Motorsport) Takes Dominant Pole at Estoril

He was seven tenths clear of Troitskiy (Drivex). Vaidyanathan (Carlin), Vivacqua (Campos Racing) and Shlom (Fortec) rounded off the top five.

Briton Harrison Scott has secured his maiden pole position in the Euroformula Open at the wheel of his RP Motosport-entered Dallara F312. Scott clocked a record-breaking 1:31.242 in his final attempt to beat Russia’s Nikita Troitskiy (Drivex) into first and scored extra point for pole position. Previously, set a fastest lap of 1:32.236 but he managed to lower it on his final lap. Troitskiy also will start on the front row for Saturday’s race, another nice start to the season. Indian driver Ameya Vaidyanathan (Carlin) took third spot ahead of Thiago Vivacqua (Campos Racing).

Behind, Yan Leon Shlom (Fortec) will start the race from fifth and Devlin DeFrancesco (Carlin) will line-up alongside him. Poland’s Alex Karkosik (RP Motorsport) qualified seventh ahead of Tarun Reddy (Carlin). Final two spots in the top-ten were taken by Jannes Fittje (Fortec) and Matheus Iorio (Campos Racing).

Saturday’s race 1 is due to start at 14.15 (local time).
