Searching for his First Race Victory
Presley Martono has just scored his first point in Formula Renault 2.0 Eurocup. In Race 2 at Silverstone, Great Britain, he secured a 10th-place finish in a field of of 30 cars. Now he looks set to continue his upward trend. In this fierce championship, Presley has to beat the other 29 talented racers from around the world to score a race victory and several of them have joined Formula 1 development programs. The next round will be held this weekend at Pau, France, as one of the support series for FIA Formula 3 European Championship.
Circuit de Pau-Ville Profile
The next challenge for Presley is a street circuit located in the city of Pau, France. The 2,760 km track has a long history in motorsport, including hosting French Grand Prix in 1930. This twisty and picturesque public road has also been hosting Pau Grand Prix since 1933. In the last few years, majority of the race winners were those who claimed pole position – an indication of how difficult it is to overtake at Pau so qualifying is even more crucial here. At this narrow and bumpy track, a Formula Renault 2.0 car can still reach a top speed of 226 kph.
Presley Martono: āThe results from Silverstone should continue what has been an upward trend for me. I started two races from the midfield there because my qualifying was not ideal. Even so, Iām pleased that I still had some close battles and I overtook a good amount of cars in both races before I finally collected my first point ā hopefully the first of many. Pau is very challenging – narrow, bumpy, and lots of tight corners. Definitely no room for error there. If you get into an accident, you could create a massive pile-up and block the track completely. I know itās not easy but I want to win every race on the calendar.ā
