Debut at the Smolensk Ring for the FIA SMP F4 NEZ Series
After a successful Round 1 in Sochi Autodrom last weekend, which rewarded Xavier Lloveras for Race 1 and Renault Sport F1 Junior Driver Christian Lundgaard for Race 2 and Race 3, the second round of the 2017 SMP F4 NEZ Championship certified by FIA is now at the Smolensk Ring.
Smolensk Ring is a 3.4 kilometers circuit built in 2007, 300km west of Moscow. This weekend, the SMP F4 NEZ Championship will share the event with the famous Russian Touring Car Championship, and the event will be LIVE on the Auto24 Russian TV channel.

Oleg Petrikov, Head of Russian Circuit Racing Series, Smolensk CEO: “It’s nice to see the SMP Formula 4 NEZ Championship on the Smolensk Ring. A few years have passed since the European Trucks championship was on our track. We had to make some improvements recommended by the FIA to provide the highest level of safety and comfort for the participants and now Smolensk is certified by the FIA as Grade 4. I hope that the young FIA F4 drivers will enjoy our circuit this weekend and I also think that the RCRS drivers will do their best to show what real Russian touring car racing is all about.”
18 drivers will be on the starting grid on Saturday, and the fight will be tight as the laptimes on Wednesyday testdays, were very close. Moreover, there are only 25 points between championship leader Christian Lundgaard and P5 Alexander Smolyar, meaning that the championship would have another leader by Sunday evening.
The weekend will start on Friday afternoon, with FP1, FP2, but also the first qualifying session at 18.50. On Saturday, Qualifying 2 will start at 09.10 and Race 1 at 11.55, while Race 2 and Race 3 will kick off on Sunday at 10.05 and 16.20!
