Pull Takes Silverstone Podium

James Pull has stepped on to the podium once again as the Carlin driver stormed to third position from sixth on the grid in the second BRDC British Formula Three race of the weekend at Silverstone. The British racer stormed off the line and enjoyed a brilliant opening lap full of overtaking to move up to third overall. Running as high as second, Pull crossed the line in third adding another trophy to his collection and more solid points. Championship leader Enaam Ahmed started further back in the reverse grid race and made progress to take the flag in fifth with Cameron Das securing more solid points in seventh.

Following a strong team result yesterday Das lined up in third, Pull in sixth and Ahmed in eighth for the reverse grid race of the weekend; as ever, this meant an exciting race would be on the cards. Off the line the biggest mover was Pull who impressively moved his BRDC British F3 car up to third position – pulling off some supreme moves in the process. By the end of the first lap, Pull was in third, while Das was sixth and Ahmed eighth.

Pull continued his brilliant progress towards the front of the grid and soon had Manuel Maldonado in his sights hoping to move his way up the podium. Making a great move, Pull launched past Maldonado and had second position as his own. Just a little behind, team mates Ahmed and Das were running in close company as they fought for their own positions – and continued to try and set a fast lap to secure a strong race three grid slot.

However things would change in the final stages as a fast approaching Toby Sowery was soon all over the back of Pull and looking to snatch the position away. The pair ran wheel to wheel on the last lap – giving each other plenty of space and respect – before Sowery took second position from Pull; meaning he crossed the line to take another podium in third. Ahmed and Das took home more strong points in fifth and seventh respectively.

Pull said of the podium, “I had a really good start and a pretty strong first lap with lots of exciting moves made. I managed to make great progress up to third and then made a move on [Manuel] Maldonado for second. Our pace was so good in the car however there are a few things to work on ahead of the final race of the day but Toby [Sowery] has been in another league all weekend. We can be pleased to have another podium in the bag.”

The final race of the weekend gets underway at 11.40 in which Ahmed will line up third, Pull fifth and Das eighth.
