Linus Lundqvist Bids to Keep Up Winning Thrust in Second Half of Season

Through an emphatic double win right before the summer break, Linus Lundqvist brought the first half of the F4 British Championship to a resounding close. Seven weeks on, racing is now about to resume in the competitive single-seater series – and Lundqvist is determined to pick up where he left off back in early June.

“Finally time to go racing again,” Linus Lundqvist says with a sigh of relief. “We enjoyed a very strong run of results before the break, and the aim now is to continue in much the same way. The second half of the season shall belong to us!”

Debuting in international single-seater racing this season, Lundqvist lived through a wave of emotions in the first five rounds (out of ten) contested so far in British F4.

A disastrous curtain-raiser at Brands Hatch, in which he was forced to retire from all three races with engine issues, left Lundqvist initially on the back foot – but the Double R Racing Swede has since recovered much of the lost ground and won three races en route to third place in the current standings.

Fittingly, Lundqvist’s best result to date came just before the summer break, as he soared to a double win at Croft and simultaneously signalled his intentions for the second half of the season. As racing gets back underway this weekend at Norfolk venue Snetterton, Lundqvist duly aims to maintain his winning momentum.

“It was great to get that result at Croft, and it really did make the summer break a little shorter and easier to handle,” Lundqvist continues. “That said, it’s now in the past and I can’t go around and just lean on that. The difficult part is to try and repeat it, and that’s what we’re focussed on. My aim from now until the end of the season is to win as many races as possible, improve my position in the standings and to underscore the pace we’ve had so far.”

While Lundqvist has been out of F4 competition for near enough two months, he has still found ways of keeping busy during the lengthy in-season hiatus. A late call to join Double R Racing’s British Formula 3 arm at Spa-Francorchamps three weeks ago provided valuable proficiency, and allowed Lundqvist to maintain race sharpness while away from his main arena.

“The F3 outing at Spa is something I will never forget,” Lundqvist concludes. “I learned so much and I’m really grateful to the team for giving me that shot. It was great to get some experience of the F3 chassis, and it also came about halfway through the F4 break, which was pretty much perfect. The car was very different to the F4, but hopefully it won’t take too long to readapt. I’m sure it will be no problem. I’m really thrilled that we’re finally going back to racing again!”

Linus Lundqvist will commence the second half of the F4 British Championship sitting 85.5 points behind overall leader Jamie Caroline (GBR), and just 18 shy of second-placed Oscar Piastri (AUS). There are still 400 points up for grabs during the remaining five rounds of the campaign.
