On the final day of our recent Italian trip we had a lot of time to kill between checking out of the hotel and getting to the airport (that’s a lot as in a whole day), so we decided that a trip to another of the Italian Lakes would be in order. We’ve wandered around Como in the past, and it’s lovely, but Lake Maggiore is a) bigger and b) closer to Milan Malpensa airport, so – with very little idea of what we were doing – off we set, purely by chance opting to aim for the western shore and take it from there. It was a lovely day out, with a leisurely lunch in a small lakeside restaurant, and then a trip into Stresa, where we parked up intending to get a boat trip in. We got a boat trip – though not quite the one we were aiming for – and ended up making the short trip to the stunning Isola Bella, where we encountered this character:
Stunning, noisy, and being badly provoked by a second white peacock doing much the same at the other end of the patch of lawn.
Stunning indeed! There’s a very impressed four-year old here too.
