GulfSport Racing Join F3 Cup

Formula Three has traditionally been regarded as the first major stepping stone for F1 hopefuls and is typically the first point in a driver’s career at which most drivers in the series are aiming at professional careers in racing rather than being amateurs and enthusiasts. It was seen as the main training ground for future Formula One drivers, many of them bypassing Formula Two to go straight into Grand Prix racing and has now been adopted by the FIA as a pan-European Championship.

F3 Cup, the UK’s only close-to-contemporary Formula Three championship is organised by MotorSport Vision Racing (MSVR) one of the most important and respected racing organisations in the UK. Having run its first meeting in March 2006, MSVR has successfully organised prestigious international events such as DTM, A1 Grand Prix, FIA Formula Two and World Touring Cars in addition to a number of club-level events, and is still the fastest growing race meeting organiser in the country.

Dubai’s GulfSport Racing, who have trained more than 50 drivers over the last 6 years in its acclaimed Formula Gulf Academy is now offering suitably qualified drivers the opportunity to test and race in selected F3 Cup events in a Dallara F309.

Said GulfSport’s Martin Hope,“F3 is a natural next step for many of our drivers. The current Formula Gulf Academy champion, Alex Karkosik is about to start a season in EuroFormula Open (F3), following in the footsteps of several of our previous drivers. The current Vice Champion, Omar Gazzaz will be testing in an F3 Dallara with Campos Racing in Spain next month and then will do the F3 Cup at Silverstone in July. We are pleased to be able to offer this amazing opportunity to other drivers at later events in Snetterton, Brands Hatch and Oulton Park”.

Omar Gazzaz commented: “This is part wish, part dream & part childhood fantasy. Getting the chance to test and race in an F3 car is considered as a major step up the ladder. As far as rewards go, this one offers by Formula Gulf Academy and Campos is in a league of its own. Working with another successful team like Campos will be a fantastic experience. As always, there will be much learning in what’s to come, but I can’t wait to experience how this challenging level of Motorsports will push my limits. Following that I will race again with GulfSport in the UK, starting at Silverstone in July”.
