Sometimes, just now and again, you get a really great photo when you’re not expecting to. As a frustrated sidelined runner, I’ve been spending a lot of my Saturday mornings photographing my local parkrun (Milton Keynes in fact) which has the advantage of being staged round Willen Lakes. These give the lie to the picture I always used to have in my mind of MK as a truly ghastly soulless expanse of roundabouts and identical modern houses. Last Saturday was bitterly cold (for a UK version of cold anyway) but also clear-skyed and the wildlife around the lakes seemed pretty lively… Well apart from this character!
Who seemed utterly determined to pose for me, no matter how close I got, so it would have been churlish not to take at least one shot. It was just one of those rare occasions when everything comes together to produce a photo you can feel good about!
