Tuesday, July 28th 2020 – The Great House Extension Project (Day 7)
The building work finally, finally restarted on Tuesday, so we’re now only almost a full month late before we’ve even started. The chances of this being finished before Christmas 2020 are I suspect precisely zero!
However, on Tuesday morning the promised digger – the availability of which was the stumbling block to restarting post tree removal – was duly delivered but then it turned out that there was a further snag. The digger driver was nowhere to be found, he just wasn’t available! Luckily, one of the builders getting behind the controls and doing the digger’s job was a possibility. Just as well is all I can say.
He got started and before too long there were the beginnings lifor them. Three days later, after two visits from the building inspector and one from the structural engineer, and several emails and we finally had the footings dug out by the close of Thursday (Day 9).
